A major eastern US transit authority has experienced excessive wheel squeal noise on its transit system and in surrounding neighborhoods.

Kelsan Technologies Corp. and Portec Rail Products, Inc. applied KELTRACK® friction modifier through a PROTECTOR IV® applicator on the area of concern.

The results were immediate and dramatic:

To the human ear, a reduction of only 10 decibels equates to one half the noise level.

In this case, a 12-decibel decrease was achieved in average peak noise for the trial vehicles relative to the control vehicles, resulting in a lasting improvement in the quality of life for nearby residents.
